Job summary

CFMWS is seeking a Community Recreation Supervisor to provide quality leisure programs and facilities for Canadian Armed Forces members and their families. You’ll supervise, coordinate and manage diverse programs in fitness, sports, arts and culture, and oversee libraries and membership offices.

You will mentor junior staff and volunteers, expand your skills, and contribute to improving military family well-being through engaging community experiences. This on-site role offers meaningful impact.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Certification in one recreation program area.
• Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications.
• HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport (probation completion).
• HIGH FIVE QUEST 2 (probation completion).
• HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children (probation completion).
• Planning, organizing and evaluating the operations of recreation programs.
• Program development and instruction.
• Applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation.
• Supervising personnel.
• Supervising the work of volunteers.
• Budget administration.
• Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The Community Recreation Supervisor plays an important role, providing quality leisure programs, services and facilities to our military members and their families.

Our services are tailored to help families with the challenges they may face due to military life and make the most of everyday activities such as going to the playground or day camp. We believe that when members of the Canadian Armed Forces are able to take good care of themselves and their families, they can do better both at home and at work. Whether families need to sign the kids up for swimming lessons, improve their fitness, make friends in a new community, our services are here to help.

You will have a diverse portfolio, providing programs to preschoolers, to adults and seniors. Each day will be different as you supervise, coordinate and manage the details of community fitness, sports, arts and culture programming, civic events and oversee services such as libraries and membership offices. You will have a chance to expand your skills and share your passions as you mentor junior staff and volunteers all with the goal of improving the quality of life for our military.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

• High school diploma
• Certification in one recreation program area
• Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
• HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport(successful completion by end of probation)
• HIGH FIVE QUEST 2(successful completion by end of probation)
• HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children(successful completion by end of probation)

Experience

• In planning, organizing and evaluating the operations and delivery of recreation programs
• In program development and instruction
• In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation
• In supervising personnel
• In supervising the work of volunteers
• In budget administration
