Job summary

City of Port Alberni is hiring a full-time Recreation Programmer to develop and evaluate community recreation programs and services. You will manage staff, coordinate facilities and partner with volunteers to deliver programs that meet residents’ needs.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or related field and at least 2 years of experience. Certification in First Aid/CPR-C/AED, a BC Class 5 driver’s license, and a Police Information Check are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sport Administration or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related community recreation development experience, including staff leadership and supervision.
  • Knowledge of principles and objectives of developing and administering recreation programs, services and events.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate programs, services and events.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and supervision; hire, schedule and train staff and volunteers.
  • Liaise with the public, external groups and associations involved in community recreation.
