Job summary

Mount Royal University invites applications for a Community Program Coordinator in Calgary, Alberta. This role leads special projects for the Institute for Community Prosperity, including Plan Zed and the MRU Map the System Campus Competition, and oversees design, engagement, research, and communications for year-long activities.

The CPC collaborates with the Executive Director, recruits participants, coordinates workshops, trains judges, and helps plan the campus final.

Responsibilities

• PLAN ZED - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Design, convene and facilitate workshops, presentations, and other engagement activities.
• PLAN ZED - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Coordinate all aspects of community engagement activities including communications, recruitment, coordination of logistics, notetaking, transcription, and follow up communications.
• PLAN ZED - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Facilitate co-creation workshops with Gen Z participants to develop recommendations and prototypes.
• PLAN ZED - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Work closely with the Institute team to ensure community engagement activities are planned, designed and executed in an effective, efficient manner.
• PLAN ZED - SYSTEMS RESEARCH, MAPPING + PROTOTYPE DESIGN: Research and analysis to inform systems mapping including interviews, surveys, workshops, secondary data collection and literature reviews.
• PLAN ZED - SYSTEMS RESEARCH, MAPPING + PROTOTYPE DESIGN: Design and visualize a systems map in order to identify leverage points and potential areas for change.
• PLAN ZED - COMMUNICATIONS + KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION: Lead the communications for the Plan Z project including marketing and promotion for engagement activities, social media engagement, web content, and other internal and external communications.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Institute for Community Prosperity, the Community Program Coordinator (CPC) plays a key role in leading and coordinating special projects for the Institute (including Plan Zed: Gen Z Engagement in the Nonprofit and Philanthropic Sectors and the MRU Map the System Campus Competition). As a co-lead of the Plan Zed project, the Community Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with other team members and the Executive Director to develop, execute and evaluate the project. This position is responsible for project design, engagement, and communications as well as research including interviews, focus groups, secondary data collection, literature reviews and storytelling.

As the lead for the MRU Map the System Campus Competition, the Community Program Coordinator will run the MTS campus program during the 2026-2027 academic year and will be responsible for: recruiting a wide range of students interested in systems thinking, facilitating student collaboration, mentorship for student teams and campus-specific workshops; identifying and training judges, and coordinating the campus final competition.

This position is a limited term, conditionally funded with an end date of May 31, 2027.

Responsibilities

Responsibility 1 (30%): PLAN ZED - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
