About the Institute for Community Prosperity

In April of 2015 the Institute for Community Prosperity was launched. Formerly the institute for Nonprofit Studies Community prosperity refers to the conditions within which human potential flourishes. On September 25th 2015 Canada joined countries across the globe in adopting a set of goals to end poverty protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This is a global commitment to achieve community prosperity that challenges not just governments but business civil society and academia. We believe that our task within higher education is to ensure that students have access to learning skills knowledge research and opportunities to build confidence and character so that they can make transformative change within their communities. This means flourishing as learners changemakers and human beings more ready to build community end poverty protect the planet and create prosperity for all.

The Trico Changemakers Studio brings together community organizations and students immersed in Calgarys social innovation milieu to work alongside each other and collaborate on new innovative ideas that address social and / or environmental challenges. The space serves as a community coworking space social R&D space and studio space for MRU students enrolled in any faculty on campus working on social innovation and changemaking challenges.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Institute for Community Prosperity the Community Program Coordinator (CPC) plays a key role in initiatives related to social labs coordination of community programs and support for the Institute in general. Working with the Social Lab team the Community Program Coordinator (CPC) will support all community engagement activities related to labs including workshops interviews and engagement events. This position is also responsible for conducting and supporting research related to labs including conducting interviews focus groups secondary data collection and literature reviews. This role also supports the coordination and administration of emerging community projects such as the Early Childhood Literacy Network.

This is a conditionally funded fulltime position commencing May 19 2025 and ending May 08 2026.

Responsibilities

Responsibility 1 : SOCIAL LABS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Support all aspects of community engagement for social labs and other facilitation projects including logistics set up note taking transcription follow up communications.

Conduct interviews and convene workshops related to social labs and other facilitation projects.

Work closely with the Lab team including lead facilitators lab manager and visual designer to ensure community engagement activities are planned designed and executed in an effective efficient manner.

Lead the collection synthesis and analysis of data for evaluation and reporting purposes.

Responsibility 2 : SOCIAL LABS RESEARCH KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION

Conduct research and analysis related to social labs including interviews focus groups secondary data collection and literature reviews.

Assist in the production of Institute publications reports and case studies including knowledge gathering synthesis writing and design review.

Coordinate knowledge dissemination activities to share learnings and outcomes from the Literacy Lab.

Responsibility 3 : Early Childhood Learning Network COMMUNICATIONS ENGAGEMENT

Support all aspects of community engagement for the Network including room bookings preengagement invitations and activities note taking transcription and follow up communications. This includes but is not limited to supporting Trustee meetings full Network meetings NetWORDing events and the Big Book Sale.

Support onsite inperson engagement activities as required including the Big Book Sale.

Work closely with the Network Director to ensure all community engagement activities are planned designed and executed in an effective efficient manner.

Working closely with the Network Director support the Communications and Storytelling Node to create and execute a communications plan for the Network.

Establish and maintain communication channels for the Network including the creation / posting of content engaging with users and fostering relationships and responding to comments messages and inquiries.

Support the Left Unread campaign as required.

Responsibility 4 : Early Childhood Learning Network PROGRAM SUPPORT ADMINISTRATION

Conduct research and analysis related to childhood literacy and collective impact to ensure that diverse lived experiences successful practices and economic and social trends are heard and considered by Network Trustees and others involved in the wider collective impact effort

Assist in the production of Network publications reports and case studies including knowledge gathering synthesis writing and design review.

Support knowledge mobilization efforts to share literacy best practices programs tools and strategies

Lead by example and support public storytelling about the importance of early childhood literacy

Work closely with the Network Director to support the Network the Trustees the Nodes and the program platform.

Establish and maintain a document storage and retention structure for the Network.

Foster connections between the Literacy Lab and the Network to advance both efforts in a coordinated way

Support onboarding and offboarding of Trustees and other Network members

Responsibility 5 : INSTITUTE SUPPORT STUDIO ACTIVATION

Coordination support for all Institute events conferences gatherings and workshops.

Volunteer and student coordination for large gatherings and events.

Serve as an Institute ambassador hosting information sessions and classes in the Trico Changemaker Studio to promote the work of the Institute and share opportunities with students and faculty.

Work with the Communications and Engagement Strategist to activate the Studio with Institute and memberrelated events and happenings.

Create a welcoming engaging and inclusive atmosphere in the Studio

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Three or Four Year Bachelor Degree or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of 23 years of related experience preferably in a postsecondary environment.
  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building strong working relationships with community partners and organizations.
  • An understanding of the university research environment.
  • This position requires someone who has experience with research and writing as well as critical thinking and analysis skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social innovation processes and practices as well as experience in a social lab setting.
  • Experience or knowledge of the field of childhood literacy
  • Experience with qualitative research methods including conducting interviews focus groups synthesizing and analyzing data
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and an ability to manage diverse activities meet deadlines and flexible to changing situations and priorities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction prioritizing and selfidentifying opportunities and efficiencies in task and workflow management..

Salary : $55982 $70841per annum.
