Job description

CityKidz is seeking a passionate & outgoing Community Outreach Specialist to join in our mission of building nurturing personal relationships with children and caregivers. Community Outreach Specialists will have a front row seat as our children grow and dream and see lives transformed. The ideal candidate has experience with Children & Youth, passion for relationship building and having a positive impact within their community.

Position Overview:

The Community Outreach Specialist is a part time, 30 hours/month contract position and member of the Programs team. The Community Outreach Specialist will build and establish nurturing relationships with children and caregivers in a designated service area. They will accomplish this through weekly Home Visits and CityKidz Saturday Programming. Through weekly Home Visits, Specialists provide valuable information about CityKidz programs, events, and policies, ensuring that families are informed and engaged. They actively build relationships, fostering trust and understanding, and work towards creating a supportive network within the community. They only serve as ambassadors of CityKidz but also play a crucial role in identifying and addressing the unique needs of each family.

This position is up to 13 hours per week. Work hours will be shared in interview process.

Responsibilities:

  1. Home Visit Leader
    • Give leadership to designated community in Hamilton
    • Provide communication to registered families regarding CityKidz programs, events and policies
    • Consistently build relationships with participants and caregivers
    • Recruit new participants using CityKidz enrolment process
    • Serve as a brand ambassador of CityKidz, representing faith, hope and love in the community in a safe and inclusive way
    • Report any concerns of child safety to the Coordinator of Community Outreach and/or Children’s Aid Society
    • Schedule volunteers to support Home Visits
  2. Saturday Bus Leader
    • Give leadership to transporting children to and from CityKidz programs, maintaining the safety of participants and volunteers
    • Create experience of safety, fun and program anticipation and relationship building during bus experience
    • Participate in CityKidz Saturday show and be a role model to participants, Jr Leaders and volunteers of how to engage with the show
    • Foster relationships with Bus Team Members & Jr Leaders
    • Provide coaching to Team Members
    • Schedule Bus Team Members for Saturday Program
  3. Saturday Program Support
    • Support CityKidz Saturday program in logistics roles
  4. Community Outreach
    • Participate in the planning and implementation of participant recruitment and retention events in the community
  5. Administration & Reporting
    • Complete weekly accountability reports and metrics for community outreach work
    • Maintain accurate map of neighbourhood
    • Attend monthly Community Outreach Team Meeting
    • Attend biweekly 1:1 with supervisor
    • Support annual program evaluation process and other community surveys

Qualifications and Demonstrated Skills:

  • Ability to make decisions within policy, with excellent verbal communication
  • Know the values and working culture of CityKidz.
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Office, Teams, Canva
  • Organized, detail oriented and able to prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision, and within a team
  • Ability to develop, schedule and coach a team of 5-10 volunteers
  • Comfortable working with diverse multi-faith/denominational communities
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Flexible schedule – Evenings & Weekends
  • Adaptable and enjoys change
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced organization
  • Desire to learn and grow their skills
  • Comfortable being on buses
  • Has a driver’s license, regular access to a vehicle
