Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Home Support Attendant/Resident Care Aide to assist clients at home, promoting independence and well-being. You will follow a pre-established care plan, support daily living activities, and collaborate with the care team for safe, person-centered care.

The role requires BC Care Aide Registry registration, a recognized training program, a valid Class 5 license, and CPR/First Aid/Food Safe certifications. A personal vehicle is preferred to travel between clients.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized Home Support Attendant/ Resident Care Aide Program.
  • Registration with the BC Care Aid & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe.
  • Use of personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, oral hygiene and meals.
  • Promote independence and well-being of clients in their homes.
  • Perform delegated tasks with trained delegation.

Position Summary

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position provides home support services to clients in accordance with a pre-established care plan. Assists with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, planning and preparing meals while promoting maximum independence. Performs delegated tasks for which delegation of tasks training has been completed. A key component of this job is to ensure the well-being of individuals and families and to promote independent living while in the community.

Must have current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry
Qualfications
  • Graduation from a recognized Home Support Attendant/ Resident Care Aid Program
  • Registration with the BC Care Aid & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe.
  • Use of personal vehicle.
  • Or equivalent combination of current education, training and experience.
