Job summary

LLRIBHS in Canada is seeking a compassionate Community Health Representative to empower community members to make healthy decisions. You will support health staff, teach health promotion, and act as a liaison between residents and the health team.

Working 7.5-hour shifts with potential overtime, the CHR engages with First Nations communities, organizes workshops and clinics, and helps with consent, transport, and event planning.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or higher.
• Community Health Representative certificate or related health care certificate.
• Combination of Education and Experience may be considered.
• Basic computer skills.
• Certified First Aid & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to speak/understand Cree is an asset.
• Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset.
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assisting health staff in delivery of health care services and contributing to the health team through health advocacy, health promotion and illness prevention.
• Act as a liaison between community members and LLRIBHS staff and health programs.
• Assist in the delivery of health programs by obtaining consents, transporting community members, booking Child Health Clinics, participating in community health fairs, events and activities.
• Carry out health promotion programs by planning workshops, in-service sessions, community education events and developing public awareness materials.

About the position:
