Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Implement new radio networks and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Climb towers and service equipment at heights.

Job description

CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in E&I maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement.

We are looking to hire a Communications Technician to join our team, based out of our Grande Prairie office, for Field/SCADA Communication work throughout Alberta and British Columbia. You must be willing to travel for a week at a time to different projects throughout Alberta and British Columbia and be able to climb a 100' tower or larger daily, if required.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting/repairing/installing two-way and SCADA/telemetry equipment
  • Implementation of new radio networks, while analyzing existing networks in order to understand how to make them perform better or resolve connectivity issues
  • Technical understanding of RF radio communications equipment
  • Performing the installation and servicing of telecommunications equipment
  • Tower climbing, servicing, and construction at heights
  • Structured Cabling
  • IP Based Camera Installation and Troubleshooting
  • Antenna installations and alignment
  • Configuration of telecommunication hardware
  • Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver viable solutions
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and strong team-building skills to interact with customers and fellow team members
Job requirements
  • Must be able to work from excessive heights, ranging from 30 feet to 300 feet, and a variety of weather conditions indoors and outdoors
  • Communications Technician trade ticket is an asset
  • Valid class 5 with a clean Drivers Abstract
  • Valid H2S, First Aid Level C CPR & AED, CSO, CSTS, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, ATV/UTV and High Angle Rescue Tower Training
