CIBC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications Specialist Co-op to join our dynamic team. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communications, events management and stakeholder engagement. The incumbent will support the Business Management Office Communications team in driving Communication strategies for three technology groups within CIBC’s Technology, Infrastructure & Innovation (TI&I) division.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-2 days per week on-site or on an as needed basis, while other days will be remote.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Event Support - Help coordinate and promote internal events, including employee town halls, People Leader Workshops, and a variety of other employee engagement activities. Event support is end-to-end – from logistics and booking, to content creation, to on-site and post-event support.
  • Content Creation - Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading internal communications, including PowerPoint presentations, social media (Workplace) posts, leadership email communications, surveys, newsletters, etc.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support communication needs, manage requests and ensure consistency in messaging.

A passion for creative communication and strong collaboration skills are essential to the success of the role.

Important information

  • You must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education and returning to full-time studies to be eligible.
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field

  • Support Strategic Communications Initiatives. Contribute to Communications Initiatives that enhances the employee experience and strengthens engagement.
  • Create Engaging Communication Tactics. Design and deliver high-quality communications to a variety of audiences at all levels across TI&I.
  • Utilize Communication Channels to Deliver Quality Communications. A willingness to learn CIBC communication channels and processes, alongside the ability to share ideas and improvements.
