Job summary

Alinea International is seeking a Communications Specialist based in Canada to manage corporate communications and lead plans for international development projects.

You will craft social content, write media materials, and help plan webinars and events, while mentoring in-country staff to uphold the brand.

Fluency in English and French, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and at least three years of communications experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute materials for corporate comms—social posts, audio/video, graphics, and blogs.

• Write media materials including press releases, advisories, and blog posts.
• Ensure projects follow brand and photography guidelines from HQ.
• Increase project awareness and visibility through targeted comms.
• Support project events and general communications activities.
• Draft and publish articles on project activities for social media.
• Edit content for project websites, testimonials, and updates.
• Collect and manage communications data for reporting.
• Train in-country staff to maintain Alinea's brand and reputation.
• Perform other related project tasks.

About the work

Alinea International is recruiting a qualified Communications Specialist based in Canada to work on corporate communications for Alinea International, as well as managing and executing communications plans for a number of international development projects.

The Role

Corporate Communications

• Support the corporate communications teams on creating and executing materials including, but not limited to; social media posts, audio and video content, infographics, and blogs
• Support the planning and execution of communications related events, such as webinars, workshops and panel discussions
• Write and develop media materials which can include press releases, media advisories, public service announcements, and blog posts

Project Communications

• Ensure that projects adhere to Alinea's photography and brand guidelines as outlined by corporate HQ in Canada
• Support activities aimed at increasing project awareness and visibility
• Support the team in general communications activities, such as events organized by the project
• Collect, draft and publish articles and publications related to project activities on Alinea social media (LinkedIn, Facebook).
• Write and edit content for project websites, such as testimonials and updates on the in-country initiatives
• Support the team in the collection and management of communications data for the project's reporting and closing activities.
• Train and mentor in-country communications staff to ensure that they maintain Alinea's brand and reputation
• All other related project tasks

Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field (i.e. Bachelor or equivalent);
• Minimum of three years of working experience in communications
• Written and spoken mastery of both English and French and language application in a communications context

Good to have Qualifications

• Proficiency in creating digital graphics for websites and social media
• Experience using WordPress
• Experience with digital photo and video editing
• Knowledge of international political and social issues
