Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Specialist supports effective internal and external communication by developing clear, audience-focused content, contributing to media and public relations activity, supporting events and campaigns, and advancing communications plans that strengthen the Foundation’s reputation, fundraising impact and stakeholder relationships.
As Communications Specialist, you will serve as a communications advisor and delivery lead for assigned areas of the Foundation. You will build strong relationships with internal partners, understand their goals, audiences, annual cycles and communications needs, and recommend practical approaches that support the Foundation priorities. You will develop communications approaches, messaging, content and project plans across channels, including email, social media, web, event communications, stakeholder communications and project coordination.
Your success will be measured by the quality, clarity and timeliness of your communications work; your ability to build trusted relationships with internal partners; your contribution to functional communications areas such as content planning, media relations, digital communications, internal communications, events or measurement; and your judgment in balancing priorities, accuracy and organizational reputation.
Our ideal candidate is highly collaborative, organized and comfortable building trusted relationships with internal and external partners. They can distill complex information into clear, audience-focused communications products and are confident advising on purpose, message, channel and tone. They manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, maintain discretion on sensitive matters, use sound judgment, and bring strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality.
