Communications Coordinator – Sustainable Building Manitoba
About the position

Sustainable Building Manitoba is looking for a detail-oriented and creative Communications Coordinator to join our team for the summer. The primary focus of this position will be updating and maintaining SBM’s website, helping to ensure our growing library of retrofit resources and events are clearly organized, accessible, and engaging to a broad audience. You will also support content creation, newsletters, the Manitoba Home Retrofit Guides, and other sustainability-focused projects.

Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain and update SBM’s WordPress website with new content, including videos, blog posts, event listings, and retrofit guides
  2. Reorganize and improve site navigation to support a positive user experience
  3. Ensure all website content meets accessibility standards under Manitoba law
  4. Collaborate with team members to format, edit, and post a growing library of home retrofit content
  5. Support content development and testing of the Manitoba Home Retrofit Guide
  6. Monitor website performance and recommend improvements
  7. Assist with social media, newsletters, and event promotion as needed
  8. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  1. Currently pursuing or holding a degree/diploma in Communications, Web Design, Marketing, Environmental Studies, or a related field
  2. Strong experience with WordPress, including content uploading, formatting, and basic layout adjustments
  3. Familiarity with website accessibility principles and best practices
  4. Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
  5. Basic graphic and/or video editing skills (e.g., Canva, simple editing platforms)
  6. Experience with MailChimp, Buffer, Google Suite, or similar tools is an asset
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible environment
  8. Interest in sustainability and climate action is a strong asset

Please note that this position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. Applicants must meet specific criteria and should indicate that they do as part of their application:
