This is an opportunity to grow your communications expertise while supporting a diverse range of initiatives, projects and stakeholders across the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS). With exposure to multiple business areas, you'll gain valuable insight into how teams serve local communities and bring the Co-op brand to life. If you're a proactive communicator who enjoys variety, building relationships and creating meaningful content, we'd love to hear from you!

This position is a remote opportunity and can be based across Western Canada.

What you’ll do:
  • Support the development and execution of communications plans that help business units, project teams and local co-ops achieve their objectives.
  • Create effective content that informs, connects and engages audiences across internal and external communication channels.
  • Support brand and communications initiatives by ensuring consistent messaging, voice and tone.
  • Provide communication advice and support to local Co-ops and FCL teams, helping them apply best practices, strengthen messaging and navigate a broad variety of communication needs.
Who you’ll work with:

You will report to a Senior Communications Advisor and will work closely with other Communications Advisors and Associates. This collaborative group values partnership, knowledge-sharing and delivering exceptional communications together.

Why it matters:

We help local Co-ops grow and thrive by offering a range of professional services, including marketing, market research, information technology, human resources, accounting, risk management and business development.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Communications and:

  • Have 3-6 years of relevant experience as a strategic communicator within a complex organization.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Are a strong writer and well-versed in digital and social media platforms, including content management systems.
  • Affiliation with IABC or CPRS is considered an asset.
What we offer:
  • Competitive salaries, short-term incentives, a comprehensive benefits package, and an employer-contributed pension plan.
  • Encouragement to take advantage of learning opportunities to grow and develop as a Team Member.
  • As a co-operative, we do business differently. We believe in working together to serve Western Canadians, delivering profits back to our communities and investing in sustainable growth. To learn more about who we are and what we offer, visit www.fcl.crs.

If you require an accommodation during the recruitment process, we invite you to submit your requests to us via fclhr@fcl.crs. All information received will be kept confidential.

We thank all candidates for their interest, however only those selected to continue in the recruitment process will be contacted.

As this position is considered a position of trust, you may be required to complete a criminal record check in accordance with FCL policies.

FCL embraces diversity and inclusion. We’re working to create a workforce that is as diverse as the communities we serve and an environment where every team member brings their whole self to work. We believe all candidates should feel at home with us and be given the opportunity to fully participate during the recruitment process.
