Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking a Commodity Manager onsite to lead strategic sourcing across Electronics and Mechanical commodities, with a strong focus on NPI, cost reduction, supplier selection, and supply continuity.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Program Management and Project teams to influence design-for-cost opportunities, drive supplier approvals, negotiate favorable terms, and establish long-term contracts while ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Supply Management including commodity sourcing, negotiating, and management.
  • Experience in Electronics and Machining commodities; knowledge of PWB/PCB.
  • Experience with Distributor engagements and AS9100 compliance.
  • ERP (SAP) experience and Lean/Six Sigma knowledge are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Support for New Product Development (NPD) and Critical Design Review cost targets.
  • Lead supplier research, approvals, and negotiations; drive supplier selection.
  • Define and implement processes for proactive Supply Chain engagement with business units.
  • Lead cost negotiations and establish long-term contracts to secure pricing and lead times.
  • Coordinate with Quality on product conformity and supplier audits.

**Commodity Manager - Onsite**The Commodity Manager will provide strategic sourcing leadership across Electronics and Mechanical commodities, with a strong focus on **New Product Introduction (NPI), cost reduction, supplier selection, and supply continuity**. The role partners closely with Engineering, Program Management, and Project teams to influence design and sourcing decisions early in the NPI process, leveraging supplier capabilities, design-for-cost opportunities, and competitive sourcing to optimize product cost, quality, and schedule. Criteria such as the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.**We Take Care of Our People:**Paid Time Off **I** RRSP with Employer Match **I** Health and Wellness Benefits **I** Learning and Development Opportunities **I** Competitive Pay **I** Referral Program **I** Recognition **I** Employee Stock Purchase Plan **I** Inclusive & Supportive Culture**Your Challenge:*** Support for all PDR’s and CDR’s for new product development (Preliminary/ Critical Design review) and work with the technical team to support cost targets for high-cost components* Steer sourcing activities in close association with Program/Component Manufacturing/Mechanical and Quality teams across Curtiss Wright (CW)* Conduct new supplier research and development activities and drive supplier approvals* Define, establish, and execute processes to enable Supply Chain proactive engagement with business units to support new product roadmap costing* Serve as an active product development team member in all phases of the sourcing processes to ensure cross-functional objectives of New Product Development/ NPI* Actively negotiate pricing and incorporating terms into supply agreements or contracts where appropriate* Work with Operations to identify, evaluate, implement, and monitor value-added Distributor services that can leverage to improve efficiency, delivery and optimize total cost* Lead QBR’s with key portfolio suppliers, partnering with other CW functions/departments to consolidate input, drive key messages, identify and manage corrective action plans* Function as project lead for all Contract manufacturing (CM) and machined supplier transactions and set up PRR’s (Product readiness reviews)* Work with Quality department to support product conformity issues and participate in supplier site audits as required* Participate and function as the Sourcing team member and provide SC support when needed and manage commodity /SCM activities for multiple sites as directed* Lead Cost negotiations for high-cost components and initiate long term contracts to secure pricing and lead times* Obtain forecasting and provide key suppliers with data to establish long-term pricing* Act as point of escalation for vendor-related issues, using influence and negotiation skills working with various functions both internally and externally to find creative solutions that will meet Curtiss Wright’s business needs. Expedite requests as needed to support production requirements* Travel: approximately 25% of the time**What You Bring:*** Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Business Administration or Engineering preferred* 7+ years of experience in Supply Management including commodity sourcing, negotiating, and management* Experience in sourcing and procurement with Electronics, Machining, and knowledge of PWB/ PCB* Experience in Distributor engagements strongly preferred* Experience managing supply chain in compliance with AS9100 requirements* Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing knowledge / experience will be an asset* Working knowledge ERP (SAP) desired* Solid organization skills with the ability to manage strategic, operational, and tactical responsibilities in a “roll up the sleeves” hands-on culture focused on delivering results* Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including influencing and collaboration, with the ability to develop and sustain strong relationships at all levels with internal peers and partners, as well as suppliers* Strong analytical skills and a talent in seeking out relevant benchmarking and other data to build compelling pricing arguments and business cases* Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven track record in successfully concluding and executing vendor agreements structured to meet corporate objectives**Who We Are:**Our ValuesEnvironmental, Social and GovernanceAt our world-class manufacturing and design facility in Ottawa, Ontario, we manufacture rugged products optimized for high-mix, high quality and small batch sizes typical of military requirements.
