About this opportunity

The Commodity Compliance team ensures Cenovus’s compliance with global commodity trading regulations, oversees Enterprise Trading Risk Management systems (ETRMs), and owns the Market Risk Management Framework governing market risk across physical and financial trading. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Commodity Compliance, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to compliance, market risk governance, cross-functional problem solving, project delivery, and the effective use of ETRMs to support Cenovus’s trading activities.

What you’ll do
  • Execute and enhance compliance controls, system access administration, and compliance reporting
  • Maintain compliance plans, policies, procedures, and controls, and monitor adherence
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and industry practices, and support implementation of required changes
  • Support compliance training and review new transactions and products for regulatory impact
  • Manage projects to operationalize new commodity business activities within ETRM systems
  • Prepare regulatory filings and required compliance reports
Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, with exposure to compliance responsibilities in any functional area
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent compliance experience
  • Strong technical capability in automation, reporting, monitoring, and data visualization
  • Experience designing and overseeing governance frameworks and internal control processes
  • Proven project management skills, particularly implementing new business activities in systems of record
  • Deep knowledge of commodity trading compliance, ETRMs, and front-, middle-, and back-office operations in oil & gas
