Job summary

Aviva Canada seeks an experienced Commercial Claims Adjuster for our Commercial - Property team. You will settle predominantly commercial property claims via phone, collaborating with top property vendors to quantify loss while upholding superior service.

3+ years of property claims experience and proficiency with Guidewire and MS Office are preferred. This role offers a hybrid work model and a competitive compensation package in Ontario.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of property claims experience.
• Minimum 1 year handling first-party commercial claims (building owner/tenant, business income, stock, etc.).
• Customer-focused with timely, fair, professional claims service.
• CIP or FCIP designation preferred; CIP pursuit encouraged for provincial licensing.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; Guidewire knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support claims demand via phone and text line.
• Investigate and negotiate commercial property claims.
• Confirm coverage and compile FNOL information.
• Provide guidance to customers, peers and stakeholders.
• Ensure data accuracy and the issuance of payments to vendors, insureds and experts.
• Review facts, policy, and technical reports; analyze estimates and negotiate/settle.
• Advise customers on claim status with prompt, exemplary service.
• Prepare correspondence efficiently (Critical Path, Proof of Loss, reservation letters).
• Identify questionable claims, subrogation and risk opportunities.
• Review case law to determine liability.
• Meet team performance expectations and adhere to attendance policies.

The successful candidate will work with premiere property vendors to quantify the claim and apply cost saving guidelines in the quantification of loss and expense without compromising the delivery of superior customer service.What you’ll do:Support our claims customer demand through a phone and text line environmentInvestigate and negotiate various Commercial Property Claims in accordance with Aviva's claim procedures and guidelines.Responsible for confirming coverage and compiling FNOL information for incoming claims.Stand as an expert and provide in-depth commercial claims guidance/advice to customers, peers and other stakeholdersResponsible for data accuracy and the issuance of payments to vendors, insureds and experts.Review and compile facts, policy, and technical reports, analyze estimates, value of claim and negotiate/settle claim accordingly.Effectively advise and counsel customers on claim status, provide prompt and exemplary customer service and while keeping related parties informed of the claims status.Responsible to ensure all correspondence is completed in a time efficient/effective manner including the creation of Critical Path, Proof of Loss and reservation of rights letters etc...Responsible for recognizing questionable claims, subrogation and risk opportunities.Also responsible for reviewing case law to determine liability.Meets Property team performance expectations that are set individually and contributes to team success.Adheres to and supports policies surrounding attendanceWhat you’ll bring:3+ Years of property claims experienceMinimum of 1 Year experience handling first-party commercial claims including but limited to building owner/tenant, business income , stock, cargo, builder's risk, crime and equipment claims for a wide variety of industriesA customer focused mindset with a strong commitment to delivering timely, fair, and professional claims service.CIP or FCIP and other industry designations preferred. Must be willing to pursue CIP for provincial licensing.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support customer demandHigh level of comfort dealing directly with key commercial clients and brokers on all claim related issues and other assistance as requiredComputer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, GuidewireHigh level of prioritization and organization skillsThink critically and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure you receive the best outcomes.You are hardworking and a self-motivated problem-solverExcellent oral and written communication skills.Licenses for claims adjusting in any provinces (not a requirement, but expected to apply once in role)Assist and support during high volume catastrophes as needed (Evenings and Weekends)What you’ll getPlease note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
