Job summary

Leyad in Montreal is seeking a Property Accountant (Commercial) to support the financial management of its commercial property portfolio. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, assist with monthly financial statements, rent rolls, and CAM reconciliations, and work closely with Property Managers to ensure accurate records.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of property accounting experience, a degree in Accounting or Finance, proficiency in Excel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–4 years of property accounting experience, preferably commercial real estate.
• Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software is an asset.
• Strong MS Excel skills.
• Understanding of commercial leases and operating cost recoveries is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Collaborative team player with good communication.
• Motivated to learn and improve.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end working papers.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Review tenant accounts, rent rolls, and operating cost recoveries for accuracy.
• Process CAM and realty tax reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Review commercial lease agreements to ensure accurate tenant billing and rent adjustments.
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and year-end working papers.
• Collaborate with Property Managers to resolve discrepancies and respond to inquiries.
• Support year-end audit with schedules and documentation.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure policy/compliance.
