Job summary

A property management company in Toronto is seeking an accounting professional to support financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties. This role involves maintaining accurate accounts receivable records, processing accounts payable, and preparing financial statements. The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in Accounting, 2–3 years of accounting experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. A background in commercial property accounting and interest in CPA designation is a plus.

Qualifications

• Working toward or interested in pursuing a CPA designation considered an asset.

• Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and tenant charges.
• Prepare tenant statements and respond to inquiries.
• Process accounts payable and ensure timely vendor payments.
• Process accounts payable, review invoices for accuracy, ensure timely vendor payments, and reconcile vendor accounts as needed
• Complete monthly utility and operating cost recovery reconciliations
• Prepare and file monthly HST returns
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records, including invoices and supporting documentation
• Work closely with Property Management and other internal teams to provide timely and accurate financial information
• Provide documentation and support for audits and tenant inquiries
• Assist with additional accounting tasks and special projects as required

This role supports the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties. This role is suitable for an accounting professional seeking to develop a career in commercial property accounting within a fast-paced property management environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounts receivable records, including posting tenant charges, preparing deposits, issuing chargebacks, and applying payments to tenant accounts
• Prepare tenant statements and respond to tenant account inquiries when required
• Record banking transactions, complete monthly bank reconciliations, and investigate any discrepancies
• Process accounts payable, review invoices for accuracy, ensure timely vendor payments, and reconcile vendor accounts as needed
• Complete monthly utility and operating cost recovery reconciliations
• Prepare and file monthly HST returns
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records, including invoices and supporting documentation
