Job description
Our Client based in Downtown Toronto is a full-service law firm providing representation and assistance across multiple verticals. They are currently seeking an experienced legal assistant to join their commercial litigation team.
Your new role
In this role as a commercial litigation legal assistant, you will be responsible for opening and closing files as well as handling all administrative duties such as email and calendar management, coordinating meetings, making travel arrangements, etc. The successful candidate will also be responsible for preparing legal documents and correspondence according to precedents and/or instructions (draft letters, revise draft documents, and prepare document comparisons). As a legal assistant, you will also be tasked to ensure all physical and electronic filing is organized and up to date on a regular basis. Delegating tasks to, and coordinating with, other administrative departments will also be a responsibility for the successful candidate.
What you will need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant legal industry experience in general commercial litigation. You should have exceptional written and communication skills, be organized and meticulous with follow-up and details, and be able to take initiative, prioritize, and multi-task. The successful candidate should also have an advanced understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure. Solid computer and typing skills; proficiency in MS Office 2010, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro, Worksite DMS, digital dictation, etc.
