Job Description
We have an immediate opening for a Commercial Lead Garage Door Technician in our Edmonton Branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Lead Technician will service and install overhead doors. This role is a permanent, full-time position with potential on-call and overtime.
Responsibilities
- Installing sectional (including FinDoor), rolling steel, fire doors, high-speed doors, security grilles, roll shutters, bifold doors
- Servicing, diagnosing problems, providing solutions, and performing required work on overhead doors
- Communicating and coordinating with the scheduler on problem solving, providing solutions, and parts needed
- Welding for installation or repair if required
- Assessing job scope at the start of each job, noting discrepancies to the scheduler (warranty, site conditions, safety)
- Out-of-town travel for installation and service work, including weekdays
- Providing estimates for person-hours and costs to fix or replace doors
- Ability to lift at least 75 pounds depending on the job scope
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including cold and heat, involving lifting, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, kneeling, managing tools and equipment
- Completing and submitting all required paperwork daily (timesheets, job work orders, notes, part numbers)
- Participating in on-call rotation for service if needed
- Passing pre-employment screening (drug, alcohol, health assessments) as required
- Valid driver’s license and safe transportation of products
- Maintaining a safety mindset and up-to-date safety training and tickets (Fall Protection, OSSA Elevated Work Platform, First Aid, CSTS, etc.)
- Executing other duties as assigned within the operations department
Qualifications
- Experience in service / installation industry or related trades / construction
- Valid driver’s license
- CDI certification is an asset
- Relevant safety training and tickets (asset)
- Experience with overhead door servicing / installation preferred
- Wearing PPE including hard hats mandatory
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment screening
- Current driver’s abstract required at own cost for new hires
