Job summary

The Municipal Group of Companies, based in Bedford, Nova Scotia, seeks a Commercial Fleet Trainer to join our Training Department, based in Nova Scotia/New Brunswick. The role focuses on evaluating drivers, delivering theory training, and mentoring students in the Private Career College program.

You will travel across the Atlantic Provinces, conduct post-incident evaluations, support the Heavy Equipment Training Group, and work closely with trainers and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 1 Driver's License with a clean driving abstract.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial trucking industry.
  • Experience completing trip inspections, logbooks, and ELD documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the Motor Vehicle Act.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and local regulations and legislation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including the ability to follow and enforce safety procedures and utilize appropriate safety equipment.

Responsibilities

Additional Qualifications Considered An Asset
  • Experience operating environmental refuse collection vehicles
  • Experience hauling tankers and B-trains
  • Experience hauling freight across the Canada–United States border
  • Heavy equipment operating or training experience
  • Previous experience delivering training, coaching, or mentoring commercial drivers
  • Knowledge of the transportation, construction, or environmental services industries
