Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Commercial Lines Fleet Auto Underwriter to service a substantial portfolio of fleet auto business and uphold underwriting standards. The role welcomes applicants with 5+ years of insurance underwriting experience.

You will manage risk, analyze market trends, and negotiate renewal terms to retain business, while delivering strong broker relationships and customer service in a hybrid work setting.

• Work with brokers to develop new business.

The Opportunity

Aviva Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity for an auto Underwriter. Our Mid-Market branch is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Commercial Lines Fleet Auto Underwriter. In this position, you will service a substantial portfolio of commercial auto business requiring a demonstrated underwriting ability and a commitment to customer service excellence. You will be involved in the underwriting of Fleet accounts.

We welcome applicants with 5 years or more of insurance underwriting experience.

What you’ll do

• Assess and evaluate risk for new and existing fleet business
• Assist more junior underwriters with applying corporate underwriting standards and share knowledge and skills with others in the branch (Intermediate); share knowledge and skills with others in the branch (Junior)
• Analyze reports to determine adequate exposure and loss rating
• Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing levels and policy form amendments
• Negotiate renewal terms for the retention of business
• Utilize loss control and risk management practices in the underwriting process.
• Respond to inquiries from brokers regarding modification to policy files in a prompt and efficient manner.
• Work with brokers to develop new business.
• Develop and maintain excellent broker relationships and management of assigned broker portfolio
• Provide above average customer service

What you’ll get

• The salary band for this position ranges from $60,000 to $75,000 for the intermediate position and $70,000 to $85,000 for the senior position. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, as well as internal equity.
