Position Overview

The Collections Manager for Special Accounts is responsible for overseeing the management of complex collection accounts, including consumer proposals, deceased accounts, and credit counseling cases. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to effectively manage these sensitive accounts, ensuring compliance with regulations while maximizing recovery rates. The manager will lead a team, provide training, and collaborate with external partners to optimize collection efforts and improve customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Account Management: Oversee management of special accounts, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
  2. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor collections specialists, fostering a positive team environment.
  3. Strategy Development: Create and implement collection strategies tailored to special accounts.
  4. Communication & Collaboration: Act as liaison with clients and external partners to facilitate account resolution.
  5. Training & Development: Train staff on handling special accounts, negotiation, and compliance.
  6. Performance Monitoring: Analyze KPIs, prepare reports, and recommend improvements.
  7. Policy Development: Establish policies for managing special accounts aligned with organizational goals.
  8. Dispute Resolution: Resolve disputes effectively, maintaining focus on customer service.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field; relevant certifications preferred.
  2. Minimum 5 years in collections, with 2+ years in a supervisory role, focusing on special accounts.
  3. Strong knowledge of relevant regulations concerning collections and credit counseling.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  5. Proven analytical abilities and data interpretation skills.
  6. Proficiency in collections software and Microsoft Office.
  7. Leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance management.

This role may require occasional evening or weekend work. The Collections Manager will operate in a fast-paced environment focused on recovery targets and positive client experiences.
