Job summary

SGS is seeking a Coating/Painting & Welding Inspector as an independent contractor for various contracts in Canada. This two-year subcontractor agreement offers intermittent work on demand, not a guaranteed full-time schedule.

Requirements include NACE Level 2 and CWB Level 2, a minimum of seven years in coatings/painting and welding inspections (three in QA/vendor surveillance or shop inspections), and industrial experience in oil & gas, power, construction or manufacturing.

Qualifications

• MUST NACE level 2, CWB level 2
• Minimum seven (7) years Coating / Painting & welding inspections experience
• Three (3) of these years should be in Quality Assurance / vendor surveillance / shop inspections
• Industrial experience in Oil & gas / Power & Utility / Construction / Manufacturing, etc..
• Inspection experience of pressure vessels, heat exchanger shells and channels, air coolers, metallic piping systems, piping components, and pressure relief devices, welded steel atmospheric storage tanks
• Experienced in witnessing NDE test (UT, PT, MT, RT, etc..) and verifying test reports.

Responsibilities

• Monitor advanced surface preparation and protective coating applications across steel, concrete, and other substrates
• Undertake coating inspections in fixed coating facilities (shops) and complex industrial field environments
• Inspect surface cleanliness and profiles to SSPC/NACE standards
• Inspect specialized application methods and systems including pipeline coatings and galvanizing
• Evaluate coating types such as passive fireproofing and high-heat systems
• Conduct root-cause coating failure analysis and risk-based inspection assessments
• Inspect, test, and evaluate weld processes and equipment to ensure compliance
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and verify documentation against ITP
