Job summary

Huawei Canada is seeking an 8- to 16-month Co-op Researcher to advance state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning. You will explore video and image understanding and synthesis while optimizing algorithms for mobile computing constraints.

The ideal candidate has hands-on ML/CV experience, a solid grasp of CV concepts, and Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow. OpenCV, mobile app work, image/video generation AI (e.g., Stable Diffusion) and academic research publications are considered

Qualifications

• Experience applying ML/CV to real-world problems.
• Solid grasp of basic CV concepts and techniques.
• Proficient in Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Assets: OpenCV, mobile app development, image editing, AI image/video generation.
• Academic research experience or publications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop CV/ML techniques for video/image tasks.

About the job:

• Research and develop state-of-the‑art technology in computer vision and machine learning.
• Work on various video / image understanding and synthesis tasks in using cutting‑edge deep learning and computer vision techniques.
• Take into consideration of the mobile computing constraints for the optimization of algorithms and machine learning models.

About the ideal candidate:

• Experience with applying machine learning or computer vision to real-world problems.
• Able to grasp basic Computer Vision concepts and techniques.
• Coding in Python, PyTorch / TensorFlow (at least one)
• OpenCV, mobile app development, photo editing (e.g., Photoshop), image/video generation AI (e.g., Stable Diffusion, Flux) is an asset
• Academic research experience for example, participation in paper publishing is an asset
