Job summary

Huawei Canada has an immediate co-op opening for an Engineer to develop and maintain software tools and infrastructure for ML/AI workflows. You will build backend services, APIs, automation tools, and system integrations to support large-scale experiments.

You will collaborate with researchers to translate requirements into practical software solutions, debug issues, and improve reliability, performance, and usability while writing clean, tested code.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills, preferably Python, with solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Linux development environments and debugging, testing, and Git workflows.
• Good communication skills and ability to clarify and understand technical requirements.
• Basic understanding of machine learning and modern AI systems.
• Experience with backend development, REST APIs, or databases.
• Experience with Docker, distributed systems, cloud or compute infrastructure.
• Familiarity with LLMs, AI agents, or ML evaluation workflows; frontend development such as React/TypeScript; open-source contributions or internships.

The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $58,000 to $104,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
