Job summary

Huawei Canada is seeking a Researcher co-op for 12 or 16 months in Markham. You will join the Noah’s Ark lab, advancing AI through state‑of‑the‑art computer vision and ML research and contributing to real products and services.

You will design and implement novel spatial reasoning and multimodal foundation models, evaluate on internal datasets, and collaborate with other researchers and cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, ML or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent coding skills with Python and/or C++.
• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with Linux.
• Solid understanding of core concepts, including linear algebra, probability theory, optimization, computer vision, and machine learning.
• Experience in one or more focus areas: Computer Vision, Deep Learning, VLMs, LLMs, etc.

Responsibilities

• Dig deep into a computer vision and machine learning topic, becoming a subject matter expert and driving innovation.
• Design and implement the state‑of‑the‑art algorithms for spatial reasoning and multimodal foundation model.
• Evaluate and benchmark solutions with internal datasets.
• Collaborate closely with our other researchers, exchanging knowledge and expertise to drive impactful discoveries.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional team members, including regular attendance and participation in meetings and working groups.

About the job:

The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $58,000 to $104,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
