Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking an Electrical Intern to join our Reliability Team in Selkirk, Manitoba. After on-the-job training, you will assist in updating equipment drawings, coordinating with vendors, and supporting capex improvement projects under supervision.

Candidates should have completed at least two years of a university degree in Electrical engineering, show strong communication, teamwork, and be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship. Knowledge of AutoCAD and PLCs is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completed at least two years of a degree in Electrical discipline.
• High academic achievement; GPA 2.5+ or higher preferred.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Electrical Intern

The successful candidate(s) will be working with our Reliability Team. Following on‑job training and orientation, the candidates may:

• Update equipment / facility drawings
• Work with outside vendors and consultants, assist in managing contractors
• Assist Engineers on capex improvement projects
• Works closely with and supports electrical planner
• Manage smaller non‑capex projects
• Plan electrical jobs and order parts

Requirements

• Have completed at least two years of a degree from a recognized university in an Electrical discipline
• Record of high academic achievement (Minimum GPA 2.5; preferred GPA 3.0 or higher)
• Experience with AutoCAD design software, PLC's and automation would be a benefit
• Well‑rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra‑curricular activities
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail‑oriented with great organizational qualities
• Ability to work independently and be a fast‑learner
