Job summary

Gerdau is looking for an Electrician at our Selkirk, MB location, offering an hourly rate of $43.62 plus cost of living allowance and overtime opportunities. The ideal candidate will hold a Red Seal Certification or Provincial Electrician Journeyman Certificate, with experience in manufacturing environments preferred. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receives wiring diagrams and instructions for repair and installation work.
• Analyzes drawings and circuits for testing and repairing electrical equipment.
• Plans and executes work on high voltage equipment up to 550 V.

Job description

We are currently looking for an Electrician at our Selkirk, MB location.

Hourly Rate: $43.62/hr plus COLA (cost of living allowance). Overtime available.

Job Responsibilities

• Receives wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done
• Analyzes all types of drawings, wiring diagrams and circuits required to test, repair, adjust and service all types of electronic and electrical equipment, electronic and electrical control systems and their components, on production and auxiliary equipment, indicating devices, gauges, etc.
• Plans details of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and selects a logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repair problems. Answers trouble calls. Considers all safety precautions and proper isolations of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations.
• Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment
• Works in close proximity to high voltage equipment. Works circuits hot up to and including 550 V
• Makes recommendations for charges and / or modifications in equipment
• Makes sketches and drawings for control circuit wiring, resistance diagrams
• Tests and maintains meters and equipment and similar types of equipment for operating departments
• Obtains information for maintaining spare parts inventory from blue prints, sales catalogue, engineering data, and by conducting field investigations
• Performs related work as assigned
• Observes all Safety Rules

Ideal Candidate

• Red Seal Certification or Provincial Electrician Journeyman Certificate
• Experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
• The ability to work a rotating schedule (continental style schedule); 12 hour shifts and/or day shift (Monday - Friday)
• Strong communication and work ethic, ability to work in a team and with other trades
• Basic computer experience
