Job summary

MNP is seeking a Co-op Accounting Student for an 8 month term beginning January 2027. You will join the Assurance & Accounting team to develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax while applying IFRS, GAAP and ASPE concepts on real client files.

You’ll set up files for new clients, manage multiple engagements, perform AR/AP and payroll walkthroughs, and summarize financial statements.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major preferred).
• Working towards prerequisites for CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• Previous accounting office experience is an asset.
• Customer service experience is an asset.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Learn IFRS/GAAP/ASPE concepts and apply them.
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files.
• Perform AR, AP, asset acquisition/disposition and payroll walkthrough with clients.
• Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheets and P&L statements.
• Assess audit evidence and review discrepancies in entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and post to accounts.
• Prepare client communications and engagement summaries.
• Collaborate with client teams and build client relationships.
• Contribute to process improvements and use internal systems.
• Maintain flexibility to travel.
