Job summary

Aecon Civil, a market-leading contractor in Canada, is seeking a co-op candidate to support the project controls team with a focus on risk. This 8-month role is based in the GTA and offers exposure to major civil projects within Aecon's east division.

You will gather risk data, assist with risk analysis, and present findings to project teams while learning risk management practices and development programs.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities required.
• Basic presentation skills and reliable attendance are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the project team for project controls activities with a focus on risk management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and disseminate risk-related data.
• Assist Risk Director, Project Managers and Project Controls Analysts with risk analysis and benchmarking.
• Present findings to the project team when required.
• Analyze historical project risk information and maintain risk registers.
• Coordinate benchmarking information across functional groups and support development.

We are thrilled to be looking for our next co‑op candidate to support our project controls team with a focus on risk. This role will support our major projects within our civil east division in the GTA.

This is an 8 month co‑op opportunity starting Winter 2027.

What You’ll Do Here

• Provide support to the project team for project control activities with a focus on risk management
• Work with various stakeholders to gather and disseminate risk related data
• Assist and support Risk Director, Project Managers and Project Controls Analysts with risk analysis, benchmarking and document initiatives
• Present findings to the projects team when required
• Analyze historical project risk information and manage and maintain risk registers
• Work with the different functional groups to provide benchmarking information and feedback on risk management accuracy, and support development as required
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

What You Bring To The Team

• Currently in a University/Technical College pursuing Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Understanding of project management, project controls or cost engineering processes
• Good communication and organizational skills are essential
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Advance Excel, Outlook and Power Point
• Proven track record of good performance and attendance
• Basic presentation skills
• Bilingual in French and/or Spanish is an asset

The expected pay range for this role is $23 - $28 per hour

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
