Job summary

Aecon Civil East in the GTA is seeking a co-op student pursuing Civil Engineering or Construction Management to join our project controls team focused on cost. You will gather risk data, support forecasting, and help build dashboards for major infrastructure projects.

Ideal candidates bring strong communication, analytical skills, and familiarity with MS Office; Power BI or Primavera P6 is a plus. Fluency in French is an asset; relocation to the GTA area is expected for the co-op term.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide support to project controls activities with a focus on cost.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and disseminate risk data.
• Assist Project Controls Manager and team with reporting, analysis, and document control.
• Support benchmarking and continuous improvement in project controls.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPIs.
• Assist with collection, validation, and analysis of cost and progress data.

We are thrilled to be looking for our next co-op candidate to support our project controls team with a focus on cost. This role will support our major projects within our Civil East division in the GTA.

What You'll Do Here

• Provide support to the project team for project control activities with a focus on cost.
• Work with various stakeholders to gather and disseminate risk-related data.
• Assist and support Project Controls Manager, Project Managers and Project Controls Analysts with project reporting, performance analysis, and document control initiatives.
• Work with the different functional groups to provide benchmarking information and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the development and maintenance of project dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators.
• Assist with the collection, validation, and analysis of project cost and progress information.
• Support project forecasting, budgeting, and trend analysis activities.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

What You Bring To The Team

• Currently enrolled in a University or Technical College program pursuing Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Understanding of project management, project controls, or cost engineering processes.
• Good communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Proven track record of good performance and attendance.
• Basic presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Power BI, Primavera P6, or other project controls tools is considered an asset.
• Bilingualism in French is considered an asset.

The expected pay range for this role is $23 - $28 per hour.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
