Job summary

Schlumberger Limited in Edmonton, AB, is seeking a CNC Setup Operator to join the team. You will set up and operate CNC machinery, perform inspections, and ensure quality while adhering to Lean manufacturing practices.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in CNC operator roles, blueprint literacy, G & M code knowledge, and strong math skills. This full-time position at the Edmonton facility offers health benefits and a retirement plan, with rotating day/night shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of CNC operator experience (advanced) required.
• Must read blueprints and drawings.
• Familiar with G & M codes and basic programming.
• Strong mathematical aptitude (trigonometry/geometry).
• Experience with precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the CNC machine.
• Set up the machine per production schedule.
• Perform visual and gauging inspections.
• Perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Troubleshoot as required.
• Complete quality and cleaning paperwork.
• Follow Lean Manufacturing guidelines and safety rules.

What You Will Do:

• Operate the Computer Numerically Controlled Machine
• Perform set-ups on the machine according to the production schedule
• Perform visual and gauging inspections
• Perform preventative maintenance as required
• Troubleshoot as required
• Complete all associated paperwork, including but not limited to, quality plans and cleaning plans
• Work in safe manner, follow all rules, regulations, and legislation
• Follow Lean Manufacturing guidelines

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Drug and alcohol testing

• Working at the Edmonton manufacturing facility

• Rotating shift between day, afternoon and night
• Weekend and overtime may be required dependent on business conditions

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 years’ experience in a CNC Operator Advanced role required
• Mathematical aptitude required (equations, trigonometry, geometry)
• Must be able to read blueprints and drawings
• Must be able to read and understand basic programming
• Working knowledge of G & M codes required
• Experience with Okuma, HAAS, Fanuc controls required
• Understanding and working knowledge of measuring equipment is required
• Organized, flexible and able to multi-task
• Reliable
• High attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• CNC Basic certificate and/or CNC turning center certificate preferred
• Knowledge of dual spindle and indexing chuck operations is preferred
• Familiarity of API threads an asset

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours/day
