Job summary

Argus in Canada is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate Weiler CNC machines, finish parts accurately, and ensure timely shipping of orders. The role reports to the Plant Supervisor and requires strong teamwork and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Experience with Weiler lathes, threading, and milling is valued, along with Lean manufacturing knowledge and a Journeyman Machinist ticket. Benefits include extended health and dental coverage and RRSP matching.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Machinist ticket required.
• 5+ years' experience operating Weiler CNC lathes.
• Premium threading experience preferred.
• Milling experience is an asset.
• General knowledge of oil and gas industry products/services.
• Understanding of safe work practices and Lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines in a diligent and efficient manner.
• Program CNC machines to customer specifications and fix programs during production runs.
• Interpret production orders and produce routine, complex, and non-routine parts.
• Use overhead cranes and pallet jacks to move material safely within the plant.
• Plan workload to meet deadlines and route documentation to the correct location.

Job description

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the CNC Machinist is responsible for operating Weiler CNC machines safely and efficiently, finishing products accurately, and working effectively with team members to complete and ship orders on time.

Accountabilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines in a responsible, diligent, and efficient manner. Fix programs during production runs as required. Use measuring tools, gauges, and controls as required.


• Carry out work order instructions to program CNC machines to customer specifications. Manufacture routine, complex, and non-routine parts from raw materials.


• Interpret production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents and drawings.


• Use overhead cranes and pallet jacks to safely maneuver raw material/ finished product within the manufacturing plant.


• Plans and prioritizes workload to complete work orders within deadlines, utilizing appropriate resources for each job.


• Complete product documentation for work carried out. Routes the product and related documentation to the appropriate location once completed.

Position Qualifications and Experience:

• 5+ years' experience running a conversational Weiler lathe.


• Premium threading experience preferred.


• Milling experience considered an asset.


• Journeyman Machinist ticket (equivalent experience considered).


• General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.


• General understanding of safe work practices, quality assurance requirements, and continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles.
