Job summary

Argus, an employee-owned company with two Edmonton/Nisku facilities, is seeking multiple full-time CNC Machinists. You will operate CNC machines, read blueprints and schematics, program and set up machines, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances and deadlines.

We offer day and night shifts, a competitive hourly rate of $25-$35+ CAD, and a benefits package including health coverage, RRSP matching after 1 year, relocation assistance, and travel coverage for interviews.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of CNC machining experience and ability to read blueprints.
  • Experience in reading schematics and shop drawings is highly desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret production orders, part specs, material grades, and drawings.
  • Read blueprints and schematics to guide machining processes.
  • Program, set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to meet specs.
  • Adjust programs during production to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain machines and a clean, organized work area; document production data.

About the Opportunity

Argus is looking for multiple full-time CNC Machinists based in Edmonton (Nisku), AB, for both day and night schedules. Day shifts are 7:15AM-4:00PM, and night shifts run from 4:00PM-2:00AM, with night shift premiums.

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, these roles are responsible for operating CNC machines safely and efficiently while ensuring products are manufactured accurately and orders are completed on time.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Interpreting production orders, part specifications, material grades, and technical drawings
  • Reading and analyzing blueprints and schematics to guide machining processes
  • Programming, setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to meet customer specifications
  • Adjusting machine programs during production runs to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Manufacturing routine and complex parts from raw materials with precision
  • Using measuring tools, gauges, and controls to ensure product accuracy and compliance
  • Following work order instructions and understanding production sequences
  • Safely operating overhead cranes and pallet jacks to move materials and finished products
  • Planning and prioritizing workloads to meet production deadlines
  • Maintaining CNC machines and ensuring a clean and organized work area
  • Completing production documentation and routing finished products appropriately
  • Recording production data, including time, quantities, and operations in system terminals
About You

To qualify, you will ideally have 1+ years of CNC machining experience and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Experience in a machine shop environment, particularly with lathe operations, is highly desirable.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • General knowledge of products and services within the oil and gas industry
  • Understanding of safe work practices, quality assurance standards, and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience operating measuring tools, gauges, and shop equipment
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as overhead cranes and pallet jacks
