Job summary

Valiant TMS in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a CNC Machinist for vertical milling to join our Tool & Gage team. You will set up and run 3-, 4-, and 5-axis VMCs, load materials, and program with G-code & CAM software.

You’ll perform first-piece inspections and adjust processes to meet exacting specs, while collaborating with peers to drive quality and continuous improvement. The role emphasizes safety, precision, and adaptability; you’ll contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and support

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) with tooling and fixtures.
• Load and secure raw materials and workpieces per specs and engineering requirements.
• Create and modify CNC programs using G-code/CAM software; adjust offsets as needed.
• Perform first-piece inspections with precision measuring tools to verify setup and program accuracy.
• Monitor operations and adjust tooling, feeds, speeds, and offsets to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot machining issues with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve non-conformances.
• Complete production and machine performance documentation on time.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication.
• Support prototype, low-volume, and production runs and contribute to lean initiatives.

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Valiant TMS, a global industry leader, is looking for a CNC Machinist – Vertical Milling to join our talented Tool & Gage team in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We are hiring for a swing shift or steady night shift position.

Both challenging and rewarding, this position will require you to collaborate with other skilled machinists and toolmakers to deliver high-quality results for our customers.

What You’ll Get To Do

• Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs), including selecting, installing, and adjusting tooling and fixtures.
• Load and secure raw materials and workpieces according to setup specifications and engineering requirements.
• Create, modify, verify, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software; adjust machine offsets as required.
• Perform first-piece inspections using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges, to verify setup and program accuracy.
• Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to tooling, feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain product quality, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and production efficiency.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, collaborating with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve non-conformances and improve processes.
• Complete production, inspection, and machine performance documentation accurately and on time.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to tooling, feeds, speeds, and offsets.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication while adhering to all safety and quality standards.
• Support prototype, low-volume, and production machining projects while contributing to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, scrap reduction, and productivity initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 4+ years of machining experience
• Technical Skills:
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Programming knowledge of Mastercam or Lemoine
  • Strong safety focus with attention to detail for precise machining

The expected compensation for this position is $28.00 – $32.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, or location.
