Qualifications

  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Trade or journeyman experience in machining.
  • Proficient with metrology tools and precision measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain workstation cleanliness and perform routine maintenance.
  • Set up, operate and maintain CNC tools for precision machining.
  • Read blueprints and determine machining operations and tolerances.
  • Inspect parts and document non-conforming results, root-cause where needed.
  • Mentor others and support design reviews as required.
  • Identify speeds, feeds and tools for programs and adjust as needed.

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is equipped with both specialized equipment and the latest technology in CNC machining centres, enabling us to adapt our designs to our customers' needs. Principal Accountabilities:
  • Maintain cleanliness of work station and perform routine maintenance.
  • Ability to create TRQ's as required.
  • Navigate within the Scheduling app to understand next job requirements.
  • Create and repair Non-Conforming Product records as required. Investigate root causes and propose corrective actions.
  • Set-up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision machining operation i.e. drilling, milling, etc.
  • Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments (calipers, ID and OD micrometres, depth gages, and indicators).
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines. Proficiency with tool inspection / verification
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed with an understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions.
  • Performs and records complete manual inspection of parts as required.
  • Participate in Design Reviews when required.
  • Create Narrative content as required for new, transferred or non-current parts.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Mentor and train other employees with the knowledge and skill the have acquired.
  • Prioritize and assign jobs to work centres when assigned.
  • Make program adjustments and tooling offsets to meet part specification and make updates to program, narratives and other necessary items for part revision changes.
  • Analyze and select speeds, feeds and cutting tools for programs.
  • Prototype new product as assigned if needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
  • Proper use of required PPE while in plant.
  • Work safe & ergonomically by following JH&S policies.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant.
  • Report accidents, near misses, injuries, or illnesses immediately to your supervisor.
  • Inspect equipment andtheworkplace regularly.
  • Be alert for hazards.
Knowledge, Skills and Education:
  • English fluency (read, write and verbal).
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written forms.
  • Ability to take and give direction.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Comfortable with the use of technology (iPads, workstations, etc. )
  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
  • Trade school diploma in relevant program.
  • Five (5) or more years in trade or equivalent demonstrated competency
  • High level of manual dexterity, and hand-eye co-ordination.
  • Proficient at reading and comprehending text and numeracy.
  • Advanced understanding of metrology (use of MMDs, GD&T, etc. )
  • Good problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, job task planning, and organizing ability.
  • Meet Level 2 capacity in two (2) or more Departments (MX, H-Mill, V-Mill, Hone).
