Job summary

Core Laboratories in Red Deer, Alberta is seeking a detail-focused Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will set up CNC machines, maintain tooling, and ensure production meets ISO and internal quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 3+ years' experience, and the ability to read engineering drawings and use inspection tools. Safety and accurate documentation are essential to support our operational excellence in the oil and gas sector.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three+ years of related work experience.
• CNC machining class work or certificate preferred.
• Valid Driver's License with good driving record.
• Journeyman Machinist Ticket preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up CNC machines and precision metal-cutting equipment to exact specifications.
• Follow machine operation procedures based on engineering drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions.
• Measure dimensions accurately using micrometers, vernier calipers, hole gauges, and telescopic gauges.
• Manufacture prototype products and testing equipment to support engineering operations.
• Maintain machine tools and perform routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels and inspecting equipment for wear.
• Conduct quality assurance checks and ensure compliance with ISO standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and complete all required paperwork and timekeeping records.
• Interpret engineering drawings and apply print-reading knowledge effectively.
• Follow all safety policies and shop standards to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain communication logs to record machine issues and ensure smooth shift handovers.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by production and/or engineering managers

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate and set up CNC machines and precision metal‑cutting equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drills, and grinders, to produce components to exact specifications.
• Follow machine operation procedures based on engineering drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions.
• Measure dimensions accurately using micrometers, vernier calipers, hole gauges, and telescopic gauges.
• Manufacture prototype products and testing equipment to support engineering operations.
• Maintain machine tools and perform routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, inspecting equipment for wear, and removing debris.
• Conduct quality assurance checks and ensure compliance with company quality control and ISO standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and complete all required paperwork and timekeeping records in a timely manner.
• Interpret engineering drawings and apply print‑reading knowledge effectively.
• Follow all safety policies and shop standards to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain communication logs to record machine issues and ensure smooth shift handovers.
