Job summary

Sicom Industries, a precision machining company, seeks an experienced CNC Machinist in Canada. You will set up and operate CNC milling/turning to produce high-value components, read engineering drawings, and ensure tight tolerances.

You’ll collaborate with Quality Inspectors and Engineering to resolve challenges and drive continuous improvement. We value craftsmanship, a problem-solving mindset, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Machinist certification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong CNC setup and operation experience.
  • Experience machining precision components to tight tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators).
  • Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning equipment.
  • Manufacture precision components to tight tolerances.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Select tooling and optimize machining processes.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections with precision instruments.
  • Make program offsets and minor adjustments to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with Quality Inspectors and Engineering to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Contribute ideas to improve quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education

What You'll Be Doing

As a CNC Machinist, you'll play an important role in manufacturing precision components that meet exact customer specifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and operating CNC milling and/or turning equipment
  • Manufacturing precision-machined components to tight tolerances
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
  • Selecting tooling and optimizing machining processes
  • Performing in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Making program offsets and minor adjustments to improve efficiency and quality
  • Working closely with Quality Inspectors and Engineering to resolve manufacturing challenges
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Contributing ideas that improve quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

We're looking for someone with:

  • Red Seal Machinist certification, or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong CNC setup and operation experience
  • Experience machining precision components to tight tolerances
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Experience With the Following Would Be Considered an Asset
  • 5-axis machining
  • Multi-axis milling or turning
  • Mastercam or other CAM software
  • Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar CNC controls
  • Prototype or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing
  • Aerospace, defence, oil & gas, or subsea manufacturing
  • AS9100 or ISO 9001 manufacturing environments
  • Fixture design and process improvement
  • Mentoring apprentices or junior machinists
