Job summary

S3 Group Ltd. in Saskatchewan is seeking a machinist to operate lathe and mill to manufacture custom or maintenance parts. You will measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and other instruments, and verify against blueprints.

This role requires a Grade 12 education and Saskatchewan journeyperson machinist certificate, plus at least one year of manual or CNC machine shop experience. You should be able to read technical drawings and follow safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent required.
• Saskatchewan journeyperson machinist certificate or equivalent.
• 1 year accumulated manual/CNC machine shop experience.
• Capable of accurately reading calipers, micrometers, protractors and tape measures.
• Take accurate measurements and data recording.
• Mathematical skills to include fractions, decimals and metric system.
• Familiarity with basic tools and mechanically inclined.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
• Adequate reading and writing skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, engineering plans, work orders, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate lathe and mill to manufacture custom or maintenance parts.
• Measure and examine specifications using mathematics, micrometers and vernier calipers.
• Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.
• Write basic programs for custom product lines.
• Ensure parts are machined in a timely manner to meet production requirements.
