Base pay range: CA$52,000.00/yr - CA$60,000.00/yr

Company Overview

Westport Fuel Systems in Cambridge, ON designs and manufactures a comprehensive product mix of alternative fuel components for applications in the light and heavy-duty vehicle and industrial segments globally. This includes Hydrogen (H2) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRDs, PRVs, shutoff valves, and integrated systems for various applications, including Fuel Cell vehicles.

Position Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the growing alternative fuels industry. We are seeking energetic and motivated team members to improve our product offerings for H2 and CNG components.

Responsibilities

1. Machine components on CNC and manual machines.
2. Set up CNC machines for new jobs.
3. Modify CNC programs to optimize setup.
4. Measure parts to ensure they meet drawings.
5. Troubleshoot machine issues.
6. Perform maintenance on machines as needed.
7. Deburr and clean parts.

Health & Safety

1. Promote Westport’s H&S culture and follow all environmental and H&S procedures.
2. Report unsafe conditions, behaviors, and accidents.
3. Cooperate with the JHSC and safety representatives.

Qualifications

1. Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team.
2. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
3. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
4. Experience with CNC machines.
5. Proven experience with manual machining (lathe, mill).
6. Proven experience setting up new jobs on CNC and other machines.
7. Experience with measurement tools to verify parts meet drawings.
8. Programming CNC machines is considered an asset.

Education

Relevant CNC machining license, diploma, or suitable work experience.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This is an afternoon shift position (2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday to Friday). The role involves physical work, including lifting components up to 40 lbs., and the use of various tools. It also requires movement throughout the building and occasional computer use.
