Job summary

Cast & Crew seeks an experienced Software Engineering Lead to guide a cloud-based transition and own end-to-end system delivery. You will mentor a team of SWE, SDET, PM, and UI/UX colleagues while delivering platform-agnostic client applications (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android) and cloud-native backend services.

Expect 50% hands-on coding and 50% leadership, with impact reaching millions of users. The role reports to Final Draft’s VP of Engineering and requires strong cloud, JS/TS, React, and

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields a plus
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms like AWS (strongly preferred), Azure, or GCP
• Recent development experience in cloud-based NoSQL (MongoDB preferred)
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript for backend and React, React Native, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the front-end
• Experience with system design principles and patterns (OOP, functional programming)
• Knowledge of data modeling, REST APIs, and API gateway patterns
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and serverless architecture
• Proficiency with IaC tools and practices
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps
• Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimization
• Experience in the US-based Media and Entertainment industry
• Familiarity with GenAI, LLM, and RAG implementations are valuable

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor our engineering team, and provide code reviews that reflect acceptance criteria and maintainability
• Drive technical direction as we move to a cloud-based platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and to spec
• Ensure scalability and performance for a seamless user experience
• Partner with product team to design and architect new features
• Plan upgrades to infrastructure and address technical debt with senior engineers
• Maintain platform uptime, stability, and responsiveness
• Drive velocity and contribute high-quality code to products
