Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Cloud Financial Analyst who will optimize our cloud investment and drive cost efficiency across the organization. This role involves analyzing cloud spending, identifying optimization opportunities, and collaborating with stakeholders to align cloud strategy with business goals. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Cloud Financial Analyst your key area of responsibility will be analyzing cloud spending patterns, identifying cost optimization opportunities, and providing data-driven insights to maximize our cloud investment ROI. You will be responsible for monitoring cloud expenditures across the organization, developing financial models to forecast cloud costs, and creating comprehensive reports that highlight optimization opportunities and cost-saving initiatives. You will need to work closely with IT teams, finance departments, and business stakeholders across various departments to ensure cloud strategy alignment with organizational objectives.

To be successful in this role you will be a detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and financial modeling skills with deep understanding of cloud technologies and pricing models, combined with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to implement cost optimization strategies.

How you'll make an impact:

Analyze large datasets from cloud billing data to extract meaningful insights into cloud consumption patterns, cost drivers, and variances.

Lead data analysis of cloud expenditure to identify trends, anomalies, unplanned spikes, and investigate root cause of variances while improving processes to prevent recurring issues.

Evaluate and implement cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing resources, leveraging discounts, and optimizing usage patterns.

Championing FinOps initiatives and driving adoption within cloud infrastructure, software engineers, product managers and other business stakeholders to understand requirements.

Promoting a culture of cost awareness and accountability across the organization.

Staying updated on cloud’s evolving service offerings, trends, pricing models, and driving implementation of FinOps best practices to enhance efficiency.

Develop and maintain clear, concise reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs), cloud spending trends, and cost optimization efforts. Utilize tools like PowerBI or Superset to present data in a compelling and accessible way.

Publish strategic reports on show back models, business metrics (Unit costs, resource usage, etc.) with recommendations that drive realization of cloud value.

Collaborate across teams to develop accurate cloud cost forecasts and budgets, ensuring alignment with business objectives and roadmaps. Monitoring budget variances and providing in-depth analysis.

What you'll bring to the role:

5+ years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, and cost management.

Minimum 2+ years specifically focused on cloud environments.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Science, or a related field.

Proven experience writing complex and efficient SQL queries to extract and analyze data from large datasets.

Strong understanding of cloud billing models and cost optimization levers.

Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Superset).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Exceptional communication skills and ability to tell a story with numbers.

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their cost management tools.

Experience with Public cloud financial tools and cost management software.

FinOps or Cloud Service Provider certification is preferred.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
