Job summary

Southlake Health in Newmarket, Ontario, seeks a Nursing Manager to lead quality and safety initiatives, support interprofessional teams, and drive evidence-informed patient care across surgical/orthopedic/procedural services.

The role emphasizes collaboration with patients, families, and partners to optimize patient flow, outcomes, and service excellence, while overseeing budgets and resources.

Qualifications

• RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario or equivalent Registration in a Registered Health Profession.
• BScN or equivalent degree in a health discipline required.
• Master’s degree in a health-related discipline preferred.
• Three (3)- five (5) years recent management or leadership experience, preference for management experience in surgical care or other relevant or related programs.
• Experience in outpatient clinics preferred.
• Experience in financial management an asset.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice in Surgical/Orthopedic/Procedural Care.
• Demonstrated strong patient and customer focused philosophy in all interactions.
• Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communication, coaching and team building skills that facilitate positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
• Demonstrated individual leadership skills, including change management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver all patient care-related activities.
• All staff report to the clinical manager regarding patient care and staffing issues.
• Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
• Promote a culture of quality, patient safety, continuous improvement, and evidence-informed practice.
• Model professional and organizational core competencies.
• Monitor and achieve departmental quality, patient experience, and operational performance indicators.
• Plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based changes in clinical practices and care delivery processes.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and planning to support goals.
