  • Hospital: Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown
  • Location: Nashville, TN

Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our unit! Join us in providing excellent patient care while developing a variety of skills. The 6 String Neurology/Stroke unit is a 30-bed unit primarily caring for stroke patients and some medical-surgical patients. This unit can be fast-paced, and RNs will have the opportunity to receive NIH Certification within 3 months through online modules and in-person classes.

What You Will Do

Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership to ensure the implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in assigned areas.

  • Assign, direct, educate, and monitor nursing and support staff during shifts.
  • Meet with staff and exercise independent judgment to plan shifts, services, and patient care.
  • Assess daily patient care needs, develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring appropriate care and maintaining productivity standards, justifying variances to the unit manager or designee.
  • Respond to patient care complaints and manage issues through established channels.
  • Ensure availability of adequate materials, resources, and supplies.
  • Set priorities based on daily patient and physician needs.
  • Participate in hiring, training, developing, and evaluating staff.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire or transfer date, accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Registered Nurse credential from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire or transfer.

Education:

  • Required professional licensure/certification and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
