Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Clinical Lead is a Registered Nurse (RN) and is responsible to provide scheduled and unscheduled, resident-oriented, goal-directed nursing care and related services in a Trico LivingWell community.

The Clinical Lead adheres to all related provincial/local acts, standards, regulatory health authorities, Trico LivingWell standards, guidelines, policies and procedures, accreditation and WELL Standards. The Clinical Lead must abide by their regulatory body’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership & Care Delivery

  • Provide resident-focused nursing care, including scheduled and unscheduled interventions, assessments, and personalized care planning.
  • Respond to changes in resident conditions, manage medical emergencies, and provide first aid as needed.
  • Support cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological well-being of residents and families through relationship-centred care.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to LPNs, HCAs, and other care team members.
  • Foster competency development, teamwork, and a culture of excellence in care delivery.
  • Promote employee engagement, morale, and professional growth within a collaborative workplace.

Operational Oversight & Resource Management

  • Coordinate emergency response in the absence of the Director of Nursing or Executive Director.
  • Ensure availability and efficient use of nursing supplies and equipment.
  • Support care-related revenue initiatives and occupancy goals by collaborating with the Director of Nursing and Sales team.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to provincial and local legislation, accreditation standards, WELL Building Standards, and Trico LivingWell policies.
  • Participate in Infection Prevention & Control, OH&S, Fire & Safety, Outbreak & Pandemic, and Immunization Committees.
  • Oversee medication programs, quality assurance, staff competency, safe storage, and incident reporting.

Communication & Stakeholder Relations

  • Maintain effective communication across inter-professional teams, residents, families, and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in strategic planning, policy review, and educational initiatives to advance resident care standards.
Qualifications:

Education & Registration:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the appropriate regulatory body (CRNA).
  • Completion of post-secondary nursing education; additional training in gerontology, leadership, or healthcare management is an asset.
  • Valid Heart and Stroke CPR certification required.

Experience & Skills:

  • Three to five years of recent experience in gerontology, including relevant clinical experience in older adult living or long-term care.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial/local acts, healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, infection prevention and control, and best practices in clinical care.
  • Competence in using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare-related technology.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations, manage complex resident care needs, and support a wellness-focused, resident-centered care environment.
