As an integral member of the STU interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Lead Programming's role is to oversee, develop, and implement clinical programming, group development, program evaluation, and adherence to core clinical skills and risk assessments. This work enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of the treatment offered within the STU, thereby supporting recovery and flow. It also promotes top of scope practice and enhances recruitment across clinical disciplines.
Duties:
Clinical Leadership:
- Oversees Mental Health clinician onboarding and mentorship to foster professional development and strengthen skills within the STU.
- Links the needs of STU residents with recommendations from the Program Evaluation Unit (PEU).
- Ensures adherence to Risk-Need-Responsivity principles and correctional practice guidelines.
- Participates in leadership development, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities.
- Provides clinical supervision to psychometrists, risk assessment processes, allied health staff, and behavioral therapists seeking registration with relevant colleges.
- Leads development of evidence-based treatment plans for individuals, families, and groups.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to promote best practices for forensic patients.
- Chairs the bi-monthly Clinical Evaluation Team meetings.
- Manages group schedules and referral lists, ensuring compliance with Risk-Need-Responsivity guidelines.
- Oversees the STU database for program evaluation data, including demographic, recidivism, and questionnaire data.
- Assists with annual reporting to SolGen, providing data interpretation and analysis.
- Works with the Director of Patient Care and Clinical Director to ensure effective communication and problem-solving within the STU.
Teaching, Education & Consultation:
- Leads training, supervision, and consultation activities for health professionals, psychiatry, and psychology residents/students.
- Develops evidence-based groups and oversees their implementation.
- Provides in-service training aligned with the program's mandate and client needs.
- Supervises research projects and clinical supervision for allied health staff and those seeking registration.
Program Development:
- Creates new programming and develops metrics for evaluating outcomes and effectiveness.
- Adapts evidence-based treatments to meet client and family needs.
- Participates in hospital and community committees related to practice, quality, and program development.
Quality Improvement:
- Engages in committees focused on research, evaluation, and quality improvement.
- Identifies gaps in care, develops improvement plans, and supports quality initiatives.
- Leads program evaluation activities, including data collection, outcome analysis, and efficiency assessments.
- Ensures compliance with safety policies and promotes an anti-racism, harassment, and discrimination-free workplace.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate from a CPA/APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Program.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario; autonomous practice preferred.
- Authorized to practice in Clinical Psychology and with adult populations; experience with older adults and/or couples is an asset.
- CPA/APA-accredited internship/residency in Forensic Psychology or equivalent.
- Experience as a Forensic Psychologist (3-5 years).
- Effective change management, leadership, and coaching skills.
- Knowledge of hospital policies, legislation, accreditation standards, and professional discipline standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
- Competence in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and intervention, including with persons with disabilities.
- Culturally competent service provision with awareness of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- Strong analytical skills for research evaluation and treatment development.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle access.
- Proficiency in English; bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
