Position Summary

The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre provides world-class cardiovascular care, being one of the largest programs of its kind in North America. The program offers extensive resources and expertise to handle complex patient cases. Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, and other allied health professionals specialized in cardiac and vascular conditions. Our innovative surgical techniques and cardiology interventions attract international visitors annually.

The Cardiac Electrophysiology Technologist will collaborate with the inter-professional team in the assessment, planning, and delivery of safe and quality patient care at the Holter and Stress Clinic.

Duties

  • Holter monitor acquisition, troubleshooting, and management of Northeast, GE, and GE 12-lead monitors at Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals
  • Analyzing Holter reports
  • Performing Graded Exercise Tests, Pharmacologic, and Ergometer stress tests
  • Practicing in a collaborative, patient-centered role that adheres to departmental and hospital policies to ensure safe and efficient patient care

Qualifications

  • Recognition of a 2-year Cardiac Technologist Diploma program
  • CSCT registration
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in cardiac diagnostic testing
  • Experience with Northeast and GE Holter systems (asset)
  • Experience with stress testing modalities (treadmill, pharmacological, ergometer)
  • Experience in IV insertion and maintenance
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team or independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under stress
  • Commitment to continuing education
  • Computer literacy (email, electronic documentation)
  • Knowledge of hospital emergency codes and procedures
