Overview
Upholds the Mission, Vision, and Values of Michael Garron Hospital. Helps create a safe environment for patients, staff, families, physicians, and volunteers. The technologist in General Radiography recognizes safety as a priority for Diagnostic Imaging.
The technologist will perform radiographic procedures at a technical level that produces optimal images with independent judgment. Will be involved in teaching and evaluating students in the practical aspect of Radiography. On-the-job CT training available for successful candidates who are currently training in Radiography. New MRT graduates are welcome!
Travel is a requirement of this position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Meet a standard of education with the required knowledge, skills, and judgment to perform competently and professionally as a Medical Radiation Technologist.
- Perform high quality General Imaging procedures using digital equipment in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform x-ray exams according to department protocols such as General X-ray, OR, Portables, Urology, Gastric, and Special Procedures.
- Complete exams by reviewing images, documenting results, and presenting to Radiologists for reporting via PACS.
- Assist in performing CPR and first aid.
- Be able to organize, prioritize, and co-ordinate the scheduling of procedures and communicate with all areas of the hospital in a professional manner.
- Ability to learn new skills, adapt to process changes, and participate in teaching new staff and students.
- Willingness to cross-train in other areas of the department such as CT, Mammography, and BMD.
- Able to work as an effective team member.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited training program in Radiological Technology that is approved by Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T) or equivalent.
- Demonstrates continuous upgrading of technical skills through post-graduate education.
Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
- Knowledge of clinical CMRITO Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Demonstrates excellent patient-focused care that is courteous and compassionate.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional manner.
- Commitment to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
- Must be flexible, punctual, and have an excellent attendance record.
- Ability to work all shifts (days, evenings, midnights, weekends, statutory holidays, and possibly on-call) as per operational needs.
- Good work and attendance record required.
