Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Clinical Resources/Educator Nurse to join the Short Term Assessment and Treatment Centre - Inpatient Unit at UBC Hospital. Qualifications

Come work as a Clinical Resources/Educator Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at the Short Term Assessment and Treatment Centre - Inpatient Unit team at UBC Hospital!

Within the context of a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and the vision, values and policies of the organization, assesses team learning needs by observing care provision and other activities; pprovides consultation and education to nursing staff, team members and students using advanced theory and knowledge of content area and teaching and learning principles/processes; evaluates the effectiveness and appropriateness of educational programs, activities and resources. Consults, confers, and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members, physicians, educational resources, and other health care professionals to achieve excellence in client-centred education and research. Assists the Manager with related administrative activities.

Who We Are

The Vancouver Community Short Term Assessment and Treatment (STAT) Centre is a community bed-based program, providing specialized assessment and treatment to older adults (generally aged 65 years and older), with physical and/ or mental health concerns that co-exist with a combination of age-related psychological, cognitive, functional, and social needs.

STAT Centre Clients Are Provided With

• Comprehensive geriatric and psychiatric assessments as well as coordinated diagnostic and consultative services
• Treatment for illness
• Strategies for coping with disabilities
• Optimization of physical, functional, social and nutritional status with the goal of returning home
• Recreation and activity programming for social engagement
• Collaboration with community, mental health, and home health teams to facilitate a seamless transition of care

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. Education & Experience

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Three (3) years' recent related nursing experience in mental health and/or long-term care education, as appropriate to the job, including one year's related teaching experience and or group facilitation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness, as applicable to the job.
• Knowledge of gerontology and geriatric psychiatry and nursing standards of the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association and current practices in long term care, as applicable to the job.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client and family centered model of care.
• Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice related to designated clinical area.
• Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods, and tools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of other health disciplines and their role in patient/client care.
• Demonstrates ability to problem solve using sound judgment in applying critical thinking skills within safe limits of patient/client care.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and set priorities for care for a caseload of clients.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to use research and methodology in practice.
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, work direction and consultation.
• Demonstrated skill in facilitating groups that include professionals/patient/clients and or patient/clients/family members.
